The Bee Gees were not always about crappy disco and horrible remakes of Sgt Pepper’s. At one time the Bee Gees were actually a viable band with credible tunes.  It’s true.  In fact, the Bee Gee’s Greatest Hits does not include a single disco hit or Beatle remake and it is good, great in fact.

Elvis Jr. or Elvis Sr.?

Before I knew what The Enquirer actually was I purchased it one day in 1977 and then later announced to my workmates at the local Clover Farm store that Elvis was alive.  An older, wiser, grade twelve stock boy set me straight and I learned you can’t always trust what you read. And to this day I think Elvis may actually be dead.  But did he leave behind a Jr? He certainly left behind a great many impersonators.

Let's Hear it for Harry Nilsson!

It is wonderful that the obscure Nilsson album, Flash Nilsson,  has been released beyond its original demographic of Europe and Japan,  but it would be much more exciting to hear his last recording.  Nilsson had a heart-attack scare in 1993 and set out to record again.  He worked with producer Mark Hudson and actually completed the vocal work for what would be his last album, before dying of a heart attack in January 1994.

The Poppy Family: Am I The Only Fan Left?

Which Way You Goin’, Billy?”  “I Thought of You Again.” “Seasons in the Sun.”  “Concrete Sea.”  “Rock ‘n’ Roll (I Gave You the Best Years of My Life).”  “Where Evil Grows.”  Don’t tell me you don’t remember those songs.  And while I guess I’ll understand if you say that you didn’t like Terry Jacks’s voice, and I’ll also understand if you found “Seasons in the Sun” a bit much in one way or another, I’m still going to defend this talented Canadian group and call for them to be remembered.
