I sometimes think that the term “supergroup” is a curse nearly as bad as the “next Dylan” one.  However, while each next Dylan is innocent of bringing that curse upon himself or herself, when a bunch of people from famous bands get together in a new configuration, they are kind of asking for it.

Good For What Ails You: Classic CCR

If you didn't know Creedence Clearwater Revival was from the Bay area of San Francisco, you would naturally assume they were from south of the Mason-Dixon line, probably Louisiana. They played a swampy, country-blues rock that sounded as if it were raised and home-schooled in a bayou roadhouse.

Sound Affects? It Sure Does

As a “Then” album to revisit alongside Paul Weller’s Sonik Kicks, I decided to showcase either a Jam album or a Style Council album.  Narrowing the choice to only my favourites from those bands, I was left with – well, pretty much everything they put out.  I’ve given up and just chosen my favourite of the lot, 1980’s Sound Affects.
